Redirect Map Builder

Paste your old URL list and your new one. What comes back is the pairing, and more usefully, the list of old URLs that have no obvious home. Those are the ones that quietly cost a site its rankings.

The old URLs

Every URL the old site had

One per line. Paste from your sitemap, a crawl, or the Pages report in Search Console. Full URLs or paths, both work.

The new URLs

Every URL the new site has

One per line, from the new sitemap.

Why this matters more than it sounds

A relaunch does not usually lose rankings because the new site is worse. It loses them because forty URLs that had earned something quietly started returning 404, or got swept into a single redirect to the home page.

Redirecting everything to the home page is the common shortcut and it is the wrong one. A redirect to a page that does not answer the same question is treated as a soft 404, which means you took the trouble to write a rule and got nothing for it.

So the unmatched list below is the real output of this tool. Every line in it is a decision you have to make: the nearest honest equivalent, or a deliberate 410 if the thing is genuinely gone.

Nothing here leaves your browser

There is no server behind this page. What you type is held in the tab you are looking at, it is not sent anywhere, it is not stored, and closing the tab discards it. You can confirm that yourself: open your browser's network panel and use the tool. Nothing goes out.

And no email address

A tool that holds its answer back until you identify yourself is not a tool, it is a form with a costume on. If this is useful, use it. If you later want someone to do the work, you know where to find me.
